Kent State University faculty member Diauntae Morrow, in the 100% online Bachelor of Science in Insurance Studies, has been recognized nationally as one of the insurance industry’s most promising rising leaders.

Morrow received the 2025 Emerging Leader Award from the National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA) during its annual national conference, which brought together more than 1,300 insurance professionals representing 32 state chapters across the country. The prestigious award honors African American professionals who have demonstrated outstanding career achievements and show strong potential for continued leadership and impact within the insurance sector.

In addition to receiving the award, Morrow was invited to speak on a panel titled “Command the Room: Branding Yourself Into Leadership.” The session focused on strategies for developing presence, influence, and confidence as professionals advance in their careers.

“This recognition is especially meaningful because it celebrates not just individual success, but the importance of mentorship, representation, and community within our field,” said Morrow.

Through his leadership, teaching, and industry involvement, Morrow exemplifies Kent State’s commitment to preparing students for rewarding, in-demand careers in insurance. experienced insurance professional. Morrow holds B.A from the University of Toledo and a M.B.A with emphasis in leadership from University of Southeastern Oklahoma State.

He also serves as President of the Cleveland Chapter of the National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA), where he leads initiatives that promote diversity, mentorship, and professional development within the insurance industry.

As a professor at Kent State University at Salem, Morrow teaches in the 100% online Bachelor of Science in Insurance Studies program, mentoring the next generation of insurance professionals. His courses connect students with real-world experiences, weekly industry spotlights, and career-building opportunities that prepare them for success in a competitive field.

Morrow serves as the faculty advisor of KSU’s Beta Nu chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma, an international collegiate student-led organization for insurance, risk management, cyber engineering, and actuarial science. The chapter provides networking opportunities, leadership development, and industry engagement, helping students build connections and gain exposure to the professional world early in their careers.

A former NCAA Division I football coach and player turned educator and youth advocate, Morrow brings the same passion for teamwork and leadership to his classroom and community.
