Undergraduate programs are your first level of college education (like an associate’s or bachelor’s degree) that provide broad knowledge and general skills, while graduate programs (like a master’s or PhD) are advanced studies focused on a specific field after earning a bachelor’s degree.

Are online degrees the same as on-campus degrees?
- Yes, an online degree is the same as an on-campus degree. Graduates of online degree programs receive the same rigorous level of education as on-campus program students.
- The programs Kent State offers, whether delivered online or in-person have gone through the same extensive approval process through to final approval by the Higher Learning Commission, the body that accredits colleges and universities in the United States.
- There is no indication on your diploma regarding the format your program was delivered.
How can I change my application term or defer my enrollment?
The steps to change an application term or defer enrollment are:
- Login to apply.kent.edu/apply/
- On the application status page, scroll down to the FORMS section
- Click on the Edit option
- Change the answer to the question regarding changing the admission term from No to YES
- Select the radio button for whatever term you are trying to defer/change to in 2024
- Electronically sign and update/submit
Please note that a term change cannot take place during ‘pending decision’ or ‘awaiting submission’ status.
* If you have started your graduate degree and it has been less than one year that you attended then you can be reactivated. If it has been more than a year you will need to reapply to the program.

How do I connect with faculty?
You can find your professor’s contact information in Flashline under your schedule of classes by hovering over the envelope next to their name. Additionally, you can reach out to your professor in Canvas by going to your Inbox on the left-hand navigation, clicking the compose icon, selecting the course, using the address book to choose “Teachers,” and then your professor’s name.
Can I get credit for work experience?
Yes, you can! At Kent State Online, we realize learning occurs outside of the classroom too, and we want to acknowledge your experiences. We suggest reaching out to Kent State Online’s student support staff , who will provide you the appropriate actions to take to determine what coursework may be applicable.
