Applying to graduate school involves several steps, but staying organized can make the process much more manageable. Use this checklist as a guide to help you track your progress and ensure you have everything in place as you move through your application.

  • Master’s
  • Graduate Certificate

Explore Programs

  • Browse fully online graduate programs
  • Review program-specific admission requirements (GPA, test scores, writing samples)
  • Check program deadlines and application fee waivers

Prepare and Complete Application Materials

  • Online application via Kent State portal
  • Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions
  • Statement of purpose / personal goal statement (if required)
  • Letters of recommendation (if required)
  • Resume / CV (if required)
  • Writing sample, portfolio, or audition (if required)
  • Test scores (GRE/GMAT/MAT) if required
  • Verify minimum GPA (typically 3.0+)

Finalize Your Enrollment

  • Accept admission in the portal
  • Set up a FlashLine account
  • Complete the new student checklist required for online students (which includes orientation)
  • Set up an advising appointment to map out which courses to enroll in first and register for courses
  • Log in to Canvas

Somewhere in the process of navigating COVID19, I latched on to the idea of a 1-hour walk every day. So far, I’ve been pretty consistent. It didn’t take me long to realize that podcasts and audiobooks were wonderful motivators for taking a walk. I am continually amazed at the brilliance of the creative people producing these for my enjoyment. This discovery led me to walk more and write a blog where I could work through the many inspiring ideas.
