Computer Forensics and Information Security

The Computer Forensics and Information Security undergraduate certificate provides an introduction to information security and incident response, forensic preparation and data recovery and analysis.
Program Learning Outcomes
Graduates of this program will be able to:
- Articulate core competency in computer security-related topics.
- Describe the scope of the information security field and its impact on information technology.
- Identify and analyze security risks to determine potential impacts.
- Work with a team to develop plans to mitigate security risks.
- Identify and complete work using professional, legal and ethical behavior.
- Define steps of forensic investigations and proper chain of command techniques.
- List common tools used to perform forensic investigations.
Computer Forensics and Information Security Undergraduate Certificate Program Admissions Requirements
The university affirmatively strives to provide educational opportunities and access to students with varied backgrounds, those with special talents and adult students who graduated from high school three or more years ago.
Kent State campuses at Ashtabula, East Liverpool, Geauga, Salem, Stark, Trumbull and Tuscarawas, and the Twinsburg Academic Center, have open enrollment admission for students who hold a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.

This certificate consists of 13 lower-division courses and 9 upper-division courses. The flat-rate semester fee of $3,692.65 for LOWER division courses and $4,327.54 for UPPER division courses applies to full-time Ohio resident undergraduate students taking between 12-18 credit hours per semester.
²The $345.57 per-credit-hour tuition rate for LOWER division courses applies to part-time non-Ohio resident undergraduate students enrolled in a fully online degree program and taking fewer than 12 credit hours per semester, PLUS a $10 per-credit-hour surcharge. This certificate consists of 13 lower-division courses and 9 upper-division courses.
