Financial Aid
All U.S. citizens and permanent residents of the U.S. may be considered for federally funded programs. International students may be eligible for financial support from the government of their home country or other agencies; however, they are not eligible for funding from the U.S. federal government.
For U.S. citizens and permanent residents of the U.S., the first step is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). FAFSA eligibility is based on U.S. Department of Education criteria and is determined from data submitted on the FAFSA application.
The Kent State University FAFSA code is 003051. By completing the FAFSA, you will be considered for available aid at Kent State University and through federal sources. To be eligible, you must be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen and be enrolled in at least six credit hours of instruction.

Please be aware that your full cost of attendance consists of tuition and fees, as well as food and housing, books, course materials, supplies and equipment, transportation and personal expenses for the terms in which you plan to be enrolled. Of these components, the expenses directly owed to Kent State University include tuition and fees and, for students who live on-campus, food and housing and for commuter students who purchase a meal plan, the cost of the food plan. Other expenses not included in tuition and fees totals can be found on the Kent State University cost of attendance web page.
- A $3,000 tuition offset offer is available only to new (first-time) enrollees, not current or returning students. To utilize this tuition offset offer, the prospective student must identify the offer and request that it be applied. Tuition offset funds are not payable directly to recipients; funds will be credited exclusively toward tuition in the student's final academic term of the program. If a student receives financial assistance, the student's financial assistance may require modification to account for the tuition offset by preventing any "over-award," such that the financial assistance received does not exceed the cost of attendance, as defined and determined by the Office of Financial Aid of Kent State University. Recipients of the tuition offset must remain continuously enrolled in the program through completion (or obtain a university-approved leave of absence) and must maintain satisfactory academic progress at all times for tuition offset to remain in effect. This tuition offset offer may be revised, rescinded, or terminated at any time. This tuition offset offer cannot be combined with other offers or tuition offsets. All admissions and tuition offset decisions of Kent State University are final.
