Apply by December 30th for the January 14th start.

To be considered for admission, students must have completed a bachelor's degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicants with a GPA of 2.7 or higher will be considered for conditional admission. Contact an Admissions Advisor for more information about this process. The bachelor's degree may be in any area of study.

The key steps to the application process include:

  • Participate in an interview with your Admissions Advisor to discuss Kent State's fit with your academic and professional goals.
  • Register for and complete the GRE admissions test. A score of 150 or higher on both verbal and quantitative sections is preferred. Applicants with scores below this range may be considered based on their professional background, GPA and other admission materials. However, a GRE waiver is available for qualified applicants.
  • Complete the online application form. We recommend that you review our admissions checklist for more information.
  • Submit the following, as part of the application form:
    • Official undergraduate transcript
    • Resume/CV
    • Three letters of recommendation
    • Statement of purpose
    • Writing sample

Applicants are required to create an account in the online application system, which allows them to save their application and track the progress of materials submitted via the application system.

Tuition and Fees

The online Master of Public Administration program is 36 credits in length.

  • In State: The cost per credit hour is $676.00
  • Out of State: The cost per credit hour is $686.00.

An additional Distance Learning fee for all students enrolled in a distance learning course is $12.00 per hour. Program tuition and costs are estimated and subject to change. For comprehensive tuition information, please refer to the tuition rates posted on the Bursar’s website.
